Costume contests, free Crumbl, and a live DJ are just a few of the scary festivities that took place in the Pida Plaza during this year’s Halloween Harvest at UNLV.

This year’s harvest event featured a mechanical bull, face painting, and pumpkin painting alongside bringing students from all over the campus together.

“This event was a byproduct of cool ideas and creative minds coming together to try and create an experience that was enjoyable, memorable, and spooky,” said Courtney Aldridge, first-year student and Rebel Events Board member.

The event music was hosted by DJ Prenup who in the past has made a variety of DJ hosting appearances at other UNLV events like Premiere, Rebels After Dark, and Homecoming.

“The Rebel Events Board means to me being able to have an impact on fun and creative events that happen in the institution where I study. I am proud and thankful to be part of the Rebel Events Board because it gives me the opportunity to create a human reaction to those that attend our event. Creating something from an idea, then putting it all together and watching it come alive makes it all worth it!” said Luis Plascencia, the Evening Events Director of the Rebel Events Board.

Alongside a number of spooky festivities, the costume contest was held in the Pida Plaza at 7:30 p.m. where students showcased and voted for their favorite costumes. The winners of the 2021 Halloween Harvest costume contest for Most Creative were Lucas Dimas & John Flora. The best group costume winners were REB Halloween Group.

“I’m gonna strut my stuff and work with it,” said Lucas Dimas, winner of Most Creative.

“My favorite part of this event was seeing everyone come together and having a good time, it was a great turnout,” said Jennifer Magno, a first-year student who has been on the events board for two months.
The next upcoming event that the Rebel Events Board is looking forward to is their annual Drag Bingo night taking place in the Student Union ballrooms on Nov. 4 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event will feature bingo, prizes, food, and celebrity Monique Heart.
