Pop music superstar Taylor Swift took to the Allegiant Stadium stage this past weekend for her “Eras” tour. Amidst a sparkling backdrop, Swift sang to thousands of fans who packed the venue and made history as the first woman to headline Allegiant Stadium.

In response to the packed show, Swift posted on Instagram thanking her fans for all of their support and announced her excitement to perform again. “Vegas, you were WILD,” said Swift. “The crowd of childhood dreams. What’s there to do but play again tonight?”

While many locations across the U.S. are only hosting Swift for one night, Las Vegas is one of 20 U.S. cities to host multiple dates for the Eras Tour.

While many from across the globe flocked to Vegas to attend the concert, numerous students from the UNLV campus also attended.

“To put it simply, it was the best experience of my life,” said Darin Mains, a graduate student at UNLV. “There were so many times throughout the show it felt like it was just me and Taylor.”

Mains has been a hardcore “Swiftie” for over five years and states that he has been waiting for this opportunity to see her. “This show is an amazing production,” continued Mains. “The dancers, the band, the singers, the production crew, all put in such excellent work. I just felt completely speechless at the end and I couldn’t even describe what I witnessed.”

Other UNLV students also took to the internet posting their Taylor Swift inspired outfits on both Twitter and Instagram.

The event not only attracted much of the university community but also attention from the Las Vegas Valley. During the weekend tour, areas around the venue experienced heavy traffic and the Las Vegas Strip was buzzing with activity as it welcomed fans from around the world. Various traffic signs and billboards were also decorated in Swift’s honor featuring a variety of different lines from her songs.

In the days leading up to the performance, Swift fans waited in excruciatingly long lines for merchandise. According to the Review-Journal, fans waited anywhere from 4-8 hours and the line eventually had to close after reaching capacity.

Allegiant Stadium responded to fans in a tweet online stating, “Hey Swifties! We have reached capacity for today’s early merch day and will not allow additional fans to join the line today. We will reopen at 12pm tomorrow.”

During each night’s show, Swift wore new outfits that were not seen before on other parts of her Eras Tour. One of her outfits in particular that garnered attention online from fans was her new ‘folklore’ outfit look which featured a pink dress with flowing long sleeves. Another one of Swift’s more popular looks was sporting a diamond encrusted bodysuit.

At Friday’s show, Swift had Filipino-British singer/songwriter Beabadoobee serve as her opening act for the first time on tour performing an eight-song set.

Another rare Vegas moment from Swift’s performance was her public appreciation for singer Lana Del Rey, who came out with her ninth album the same day as her show.

“Lana Del Rey put out a new album,” Swift announced to the audience during her acoustic set. “It’s called “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.” Guys, it’s so good. You probably already know that, but it’s just extraordinary. I just think she’s the best that we have. I think we need to make it a priority as a group to stream, buy, support this album and this artist.”

Swift is set to continue her Eras Tour and perform 48 more times across the nation. She is set to conclude her tour in Los Angeles on Aug. 9.
