UNLV football released its tentative 2022 schedule, along with the rest of the Mountain West Conference schools Wednesday afternoon.
The Rebels will kick off their third season at Allegiant Stadium Sept. 3 with Idaho State from the Big Sky Conference.
Other non-conference dates include a road game at Cal on Sept. 10 and a home game against North Texas, who last played the Rebels in the 2014 Heart of Dallas Bowl, on Sept. 17.
UNLV will make the trip to Notre Dame for the first meeting between the two schools on Oct. 22 as its last non-conference game.
“The release of the 2022 schedule is a reminder of why our staff and players are putting in the real work now,” coach Marcus Arroyo said in a statement. “It’s going to be an exciting year with a tough road schedule, including trips to Pac-12 opponent Cal and a likely top-10 test in South Bend—all in addition to a challenging Mountain West schedule.
Mountain West play begins on Sept. 24, when the Rebels travel to Logan, UT to face the reigning Mountain West champion Utah State Aggies. UNLV’s first conference home game will be against New Mexico on Oct. 1.
The Battle for the Fremont Cannon returns to the last weekend of the season as UNLV and Nevada will play for the Cannon on Nov. 26 at Allegiant Stadium. Other conference home games include Air Force on Oct. 15 and Fresno State on Nov. 12.
“The home slate includes some great matchups, culminating in a rivalry game at home in Allegiant Stadium for the Fremont Cannon,” Arroyo added.
Road conference games will include San Jose State on Oct. 8, San Diego State on Nov. 5, and The Battle of the Ninth Island will be at Hawaii on Nov. 19.
Kickoff times will be announced at a later date as the Mountain West’s TV partners, CBS and FOX, pick games for their networks and possibly shift some games to Thursday or Friday.
UNLV football is scheduled to begin its spring practice on March 29.
