The UNLV Skatin’ Rebels did not allow a goal to the Oregon Ducks, shutting them out in both games, 12-0 and 5-0. Vince Benedetto took the win in the first game, and Luke Fundator made his Rebel debut with the second shutout win of the series for the Rebels.
Bradley Golant led the way in scoring, putting up six points off of two goals and four assists. Nick Flanders, Tristan Rand, and Mattias Dal Monte all got four points.
Michael Boutoussov, Jaedin Ness, Rob McCollum, and Cole Wyatt all had three points.
GAME ONE
The first game saw an offensive explosion from the Rebels, winning 12-0. Benedetto earned a shutout, stopping all 18 shots from the quiet Oregon offense in the series’ first game. Tristan Rand and Golant both recorded two goals and assists. Dal Monte put up a goal and three assists.
The scoring began when Rand put the puck in the net off a feed from McCollum and Dal Monte at 12:14 in the first period. Moments later, Oregon’s Nicholas Slayton was stopped by Benedetto on a breakaway to keep the one-goal lead.
In the final minutes of the period, Boutoussov put the puck into the net, giving the Rebels a 2-0 lead heading into intermission.
McCollum began the scoring in the second frame, stretching the lead to 3-0 while Dylan Ford and Mason Kelly collected the assists at 7:21 of the second.
The lead would grow to 5-0 after Joey Carollo and Jaiden Ness both buried shots late in the period, and they would take that lead into the second intermission.
The final frame saw seven goals from the Rebels, as they would grow their lead to 12-0. Goals from Rand, Golant, Ness, Boutoussov, Cole Wyatt, and Dal Monte turned the game upside down for the Ducks.
The two teams would get into multiple scraps throughout the third period, and many players from both sides would take an early trip to the locker room. Nick Doyle and Alec Johnson would get misconduct penalties, while Oregon’s Cormac Grebe and Rand would drop the gloves, which would both see them getting not only a fighting major, but the added penalty of disqualification for the rest of the game.
The game would calm down in both physicality and scoring, and the final score of the first game would end up being 12-0.
GAME TWO
Game two saw Fundator make his debut for the Skatin’ Rebels, as he would go on to post a 21-save shutout. Flanders led the way in scoring, tallying two goals and assists. McCollum and Dimizio both had a goal and an assist.
UNLV got the first goal in a four-on-four situation from Alec Johnson at 14:15, with McCollum and Flanders getting the apples.
McCollum would get in on the scoring, extending the Rebels lead 2-0 before the first intermission.
Only one goal was scored in the second period, coming from Luke Burke with Grant Smith getting the assist at 3:48 of the middle frame to make the lead 3-0 heading into the second intermission.
Dimizio began the scoring at 5:38 of the final frame, with Golant and Mensch getting the assists to make the lead 4-0.
Flanders would score two goals back to back, one on the powerplay at 9:46, and an even-strength goal at 18:06, to make the lead and the eventual final score of 6-0.

The Skatin’ Rebels are off next weekend before the final series of the regular season vs Colorado. Those games are on March 1-2, with puck drop for both games starting at 7:30 p.m. at City National Arena.
