From indie to pop to rock to electro, when it comes to the local music scene, Las Vegas has it all. We have Panic! At The Disco, The Killers, Falling in Reverse, The Cab, Desert Bloom, The Radical West and so many more. The Valley is home to many local artists and bands that have either just hit the music industry or annihilated the competition.

Starting with Panic! At The Disco, the band was formed in 2004 as an indie rock band with Brendon Urie, Spencer Smith, Ryan Ross and Brent Wilson. They recorded their first demo in high school, which sold so well it landed a triple platinum record in 2006. Panic! has over 18 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and they are a proud emblem of Las Vegas.

The Killers are next with over 17 million monthly listeners. Their big hit “Mr. Brightside” has been streamed over 1 billion times. The Killers are classified as a rock band with members Brendon Flowers, Dave Keunig and Matt Stoermer. They continue to put out major hits and their fan base has been growing since they started in 2001.

Falling in Reverse is another rock band, started in 2008, that is defying records and beating the status quo. They have over 4 million monthly listeners.

Now, the bigger bands have been in the limelights for far too long, it is time to give the smaller bands their rising moment. Starting off strong, we have Desert Bloom, a local indie rock band that recently played at the Life is Beautiful music festival.

Desert Bloom has only been public since 2019, and they have over 15 thousand monthly listeners. The band is a group of friends that had a few amazing jam sessions and began to perform for an audience. Now, they are entering stardom with big name venues and more songs coming out soon.

The Radical West is an indie band that has not been stopped by COVID-19, they have weekly live sessions for their fans to watch and enjoy. The lead singer made it to the top 80 out of 400,000 on The Voice. They also performed at Life is Beautiful and have a growing fan base with over 4 thousand monthly listeners.

The Cab is a local rock band. The lead singer Alexander Deleon graduated from Liberty High School and worked in close proximity with Panic’s Brendon Urie and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump. The lead singer took a break to focus on his solo career in 2015 with the stage name Bohnes. The Cab is racking in over a million monthly listeners, and Bohnes the same. Regardless, they are successful artists.

There are so many great bands and artists that have come from our own backyard. The amazing thing about Las Vegas is that we are the entertainment capital of the world, and there is talent at every corner.

Below will be a playlist of talented vegas bands and artists who have made a splash in the industry. However, if you want to support beginning artists in Las Vegas, reach out to RebUNLV for the next open mic night. There will be a talent show coming up mid-October.

Make sure and check out the UNLV Scarlet & Gray Spotify to listen to the new Vegas Essentials playlist from this article.
