You are 18 years old and living in Las Vegas, missing out on what the city has to offer, or so you thought. It is no secret Las Vegas is a party city made by and for adults ages 21 and above. The nightlife is what keeps this city moving and alive.

People from all over the world come to Las Vegas for the clubs, the gambling and the easily accessible alcohol. However, what most do not know is that there is also a thriving nightlife for crowds, starting at age 18.

Like most cities known for their nightlife, hookah lounges have popped up around the metropolitan area. Las Vegas is no exception to this trend and has provided well-known establishments throughout the valley.

One of the most successful of the 18 and above friendly hookah lounges is Cloud 9 Hookah Lounge. Located at Russell Road, this gem is only an 18-minute drive from campus. Cloud 9 Hookah Lounge operates seven days a week from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.

What makes this hookah lounge stand out from the rest is their affiliation to the coffee shop next door, Illumilatte. According to the owner and manager Tariq, known to his customers as “T,” they are in the process of transitioning into a more mellow “night-time coffee shop vibe.” Make sure to check them out on Instagram and pay them a visit.

On another note, one of the most underrated nightlife activities in Las Vegas are the karaoke bars. After reading “bar,” you might be thrown off but do not rule it out just yet. There are amazing karaoke bars that do have time slots for the crowds ages 18 and above.

One in particular is GoGo Karaoke. It is located at Maryland Parkway inside the Runnin’ Rebel Plaza, making it a six minute drive from campus. GoGo Karaoke is open from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. seven days a week. After 9 p.m. the establishment requires customers to be at least 21 years old.

However, that will not be a problem as their happy hour is from 6 p.m. to 9.m. nightly. This happy hour differs from normal happy hours as they provide reduced karaoke room prices. From Sunday to Thursday, a small room is priced at $10 an hour, a medium room at $15 an hour, a large room at $25 an hour and a VIP Room at $30 an hour. Head over to their website for more pricing and information.

Maybe you are not into the typical nightlife scene. Believe it or not, there is more than one scene to enjoy. Stock up on your favorite black eyeliner, bust out those fingerless gloves, studded belt and skeleton hand hair-clips you held on to all these years because Emo Night is the perfect option for you.

Las Vegas’ most popular venue, the Brooklyn Bowl, hosts the city’s Emo Night and you’re in luck as their next one will be on Saturday, Oct. 9. Doors open at 9 p.m. and tickets range from $9.99 to $17. Emo Night provides a safe place for all to enjoy the great music of the genre. Created by two best friends, Ethan and Alex, who, according to the Brooklyn Bowl website, “grew up listening to music, going to shows and having some epic parties together.”

To adhere to a safe and COVID-19 friendly environment, this show is requiring all fans to provide proof of either a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event or full vaccination for entry. You can find more information on the venue and show by heading over to the venue’s website.

A bonus to the Brooklyn Bowl hosting Emo Night is the location itself. This venue is in the middle of The Linq on the Las Vegas Strip. Surrounded by restaurants and attractions that open late, this makes finding an after show activity easy.

Still not convinced of the epic nightlife that Las Vegas has to offer those ages 18 and above? Not a problem. Sunset Park can be found at Sunset Road, a 14-minute drive from campus, and closes at 11 p.m.

“My friends and I are sports junkies so we like to go to Sunset Park and play five-on-five,” 19-year-old sophomore Chris Johnson said in reference to basketball.

Johnson also mentioned that the 18+ friendly Mickey’s Cues & Brews is an enjoyable place to play billiards. It is located at 7380 S Eastern Ave and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Whatever your age and interests are, Las Vegas is sure to provide more than enough activities to enjoy at night.
